INTRODUCTION
LIBRETTO (Hungarian)
LIBRETTO (English)

We are told that this is not the horror fairy-tale, nor a murder mystery, but a psychological drama about the interior life of the composer Bartok himself, or perhaps about the sufferings of Everyhuman.
Judith (why this preeminently Jewish name?) is the fourth wife of Bluebeard, and while there is blood everywhere, the other three wives are not dead, in separate chambers, but alive and together and richly clothed.
I will not attempt to unravel it, but the Wikipedia article and the English translation will provide the clues and the opinions.
